From Separation to Connection

On 21 October 2026, Thorsten-Alexander Karl from typenraum will speak at Hospitalhof Stuttgart about the role of accessible wayfinding systems. The event is part of the “Architecture and Ethics” series in cooperation with aed Stuttgart.

At its core is a fundamental question: What helps people find their way through spaces and information environments – and where do barriers arise? Together with other guests, the discussion will explore how design and communication can help make boundaries visible and overcome them. Using the multisensory wayfinding system for the Betty Hirsch School Centre of Nikolauspflege as an example, he will show how different perceptual needs can be addressed – and how design can support independent orientation and participation.
